It seems like the UAP issue is breaking down along familiar low-trust/high-trust lines: conservatives distrust the government and fear-monger, while liberals are largely trusting of official sources.

The 1980s–2020s party realignment is populist (high-trust Dems, low-trust GOP)
There is a lot of distrust of power found on the left as well. What looks like Dem "trust in institutions" is mostly a reaction to Trump.
There is also the dynamic that "being opposed to Trump making things worse" isn't really the same as "happy with the status quo." Focus on "trust" flattens that distinction.
Like I have strong criticisms of DOJ/FBI but I also don't want to see billionaires get away with crimes. [edit]
