Its Metal Heroes homage is the really good part though. There’s just something about seeing 80s tokusatsu hero visuals rendered in this 80s OVA style that tickles my brain. I mostly got all I wanted from just watching the OP, but it's only 30 minutes so still worth a watch. 2/2 - ThreadSky

Definitely a step up from 1.0 with it not being a direct remake, but I’m still mixed on a lot of it. Like 1.0, the last chunk of this movie rules. 1/3

A lot of the characterization feels very rushed here. Like Asuka and Rei just met and barely know each other and then we skip right to the elevator scene. The fanservice here is also annoying in a way that it isn’t in the original series. 2/3
