"And myself" is (a) wrong (myself indicates the reflexive tense - I wash myself) but more importantly (b) only used pretentiously like this in English, to make the speaker seem more important (in the mind of the speaker). Sorry π
"read this paper by myself [me]" is obvs wrong, and "...by Penny and myself" wrong for the same reason, but some people use it π€’so it's familiar and foreign speakers pick it up. It's yuk clerky affectation, not some kind of dialect or alt speech pattern
And, y'know, is the misplaced "myself" not often a bit of a tell?
This is a dated and pedantic rule that should only be considered when arguing with a paid copy editor over house style, if then.
