I hate to have this opinion, but I'll be pretty disappointed if it doesn't vibe or flat out ignores Rebels, given how important that series and those characters are to the formation of Rebel Alliance and the rebellion. Having Hera and Chopper are in there are a minimum requirement.
Plus you have the assets like the Ghost and Chopper already made. Too many integral events for the Spectres not to be involved. Escorting Mothma off Coruscant, the formation of the alliance on the Ghost, the debate between Saw and Mothma at the Yavin temple. So many important events.
