Yep. Rinvoq for rheumatoid arthritis. $3000 a month. Thanks to Medicaid I can receive it. This is an advanced drug relying on new technology. I’m counting the days until I no longer can receive this drug. Because Medicaid will be cut followed by Medicare which I’ll be eligible for in a few months.

Rituximab over here for Gramulomatosis with Polyangitis. Without an infusion every 6 months, my kidneys will fail and my lungs will scar beyond use. So yeah: NIH researchers’ work has saved my life for the past 15 years.

25 yrs for my family member. It was developed too late to save their kidneys but kept them in remission for long enough to qualify and receive a kidney transplant. An amazing gift of time and quality of life.

If I may ask: when was the diagnosis? I know how fortunate I am to have only suffered 70% kidney damage and lung damage in the 6 months it took to get the diagnosis.

Diagnosed in 2001, if memory serves it probably took 2-3 months to get the diagnosis which was honestly fast, but the standard treatment was heavy doses of steroids/cross your fingers, and the disease reoccurred and went from something like 60% kidney damage to total loss of function.

And then someone suggested rituxamib and it was like flipping a switch. Truly a total game changer for us.

How do we fight drug resistant strains of deadly diseases without funded research? Even republicants can get tuberculosis, polio, and bacterial infections. If a drug cannot fix it, then we are back to the Middle Ages. Money will not cure the rich people at that point.
