As someone who started with Usenet in the 1980's, my little observation over time:
- watered down / non existent critical thinking skills
- "Netiquette" has been pushed aside
- attention spans splintered / shortened
the onramp to the information superhighway is jammed with Big Wheels
It is the unaccountability of the social media owners that is the problem. Section 230 gave them immunity from being responsible for the content users post. Musk has done more harm via X amplifying misinformation than any platform written or online.
Turns out when you connect the world the tide of enlightenment doesn’t rise all boats… the insecurity of the stupids clumps them together like a stone that sinks us all.
