Love Supertramp! Saw them twice in Fresno, CA in the 70s. Saw Roger Holleywell (sp?) about 4 or 5 years ago. Fantastic show! Ran into him at the airport the next morning. Nice fellow!
Picked up this beauty in NM condition for approximately $7 a couple of days ago from a thrift shop. A few months ago I picked up Crime of the Century in similar condition from another thrift shop for $2. Still got $11 in my pocket. π€ππ€£ something something awesome. π€£π€£
Love this album. I once watched an interview with Roger Hodgson in which he described how he wrote many of these songs on an old pump organ that he bought when he was 17.
Take a look at my girlfriend... I love this entire album so much, takes me back to my childhood listening to this while camping with my family in Baja California. π
I was a big Supertramp fan back in the day. Owned most of albums on vinyl (at least up until "famous last words"). This is great record. Now I listen to all of those albums on Spotify.
That waitress, Kate Murtaugh, was an actress in the classic 'lost' iconoclastic 1960 dramedy series, IT'S A MAN'S WORLD which was killed by network corporate sponsors threatened by its political and sexual edginess (for the time). Seek it out! She plays the mom who runs the grocery store.
This was the first album I ever purchased. Bought it at Raspberry Records with my friend Angie, and we hitchhiked home. One of my favorite, and definitely most lasting, memories.
Eerie how the OJ torch is located where it is on the tower and, in a mirror, the U and P spell 911 and are directly over the towers.
In all seriousness it's a great album and band. Reminds me of cross country road trips when I was a kid...my folks dubbed the vinyl of this onto cassette
I have an aunt who bought this album, cassette, or CD 20 to 25 times. Every time a friend would borrow it, they wouldn't return it, so she'd have to buy another one.
Holy Shit! I don't know if it's really him, but @roger-hodgson.bsky.social just put a like on my comment. Cool to see some of my rock icons here on the bluesky.
God I miss records. The whole ritual of the thingβ¦ Thumbing through the albums, opening the sleeve, placing the disc. The pause as the needle dropped and thenβ¦ MUSIC!πΆ
