I would say you are also pretty proportional based on seat count percentages and popular vote percentages. One should expect 50% critique when the party is 50% of the popular vote.

I assume that's why the Greens don't get poked at often.

The most popular critique of the BQ in quebec is the fact that this party at best can be part of a ruling coalition due to the max number of seats they could get therefore the party is a wasted vote in the opinion of many.

I'm pretty sure you know that but one of the keys to understanding Québec politics is to know that we are constantly afraid of being absorbed by the English hegemony.
And the silent revolution gives us some pro secular views that sometimes translate into racism, a phobia of religions.

That's why even with more conservative positions, Quebec will probably be surprisingly anti Poilievre.
I would be surprised if we don't end up seeing the possibility of "Canada 51st state" as the biggest threat for French speaking Canada and Poilievre as a possible agent for it.

And as an anglophone that lived in Montreal for 15 years, so many of the policies seemed designed to drive me away or keep services from me (especially under the CAQ). It’s really fraught.

I really hate the Quebec government’s definition of “secular”, though. They use it 100% incorrectly.

It’s supposed to mean that the government stays out of your religious business, not that it bans religion from being present in your life. It ends up looking just as paternalistic and oppressive as the church was, just from an opposite (often racist/xenophobic) direction.

That’s not what secularism means at all. Secularism is about separation of church and state and treating everyone, regardless of faith, equally under the law. As such public servants should not display religious symbols.

The Quebec government literally removed Christian symbols from courtrooms.

No—it’s okay for people to have a religion and wear cultural garb or a small cross. That’s not promotion of religion, that’s merely diversity. The government is NEUTRAL on religious matters; hiring is no different. They cannot hire OR fire based on religion.

That's a valid view of secularism in my opinion, but in practice it often ends up being justification for racism.
Head covering for example is not necessarily a religious thing. For a lot of cultures hairs are intimate. Just like for others nipples are not.
