I'm not entirely sure if I can agree here.

My dad used to be a generally reasonable guy. He's not Albertan. But since he started working the oil fields some years ago, he's become just another right-wing conspiracist.

There's a significant problem beyond anything federal in Alberta.

Nuance on the internet is long dead I've grown up and lived in a rural community filled with backwards thinking people They all want the same things we all want and have many of the same stresses It's easier to listen to the loud voices saying it's immigrants stealing your job (or whatever boogyman)

The hyperindividualism and hyperentitlement is a feature of the captured petrostate propaganda. "Cooperation" has become a dirty word and anyone who suggests it here gets mocked.

No one is immune to propaganda.

Like most problems of society, we need better education starting from the early years. Teach that all people matter, all people have differences and treat others with respect. No one is born racist or angry. Also how to fact check stuff on the internet.
