Basically a vanilla cream pie with topping of meringue or, as my grandma used, whipped cream. As a kid I called it “Just Pie”, and it was my favourite.

I consider the meringue on flapper pie an abomination. It is supposed to be poverty desert, not a fancy pants lemon meringue pie.

My gran NEVER made it with meringue. She made it with cool whip on top like a proper proper prairies lady. 🤣🤣🤣
