How exactly is final energy defined? I know
* end energy, which is e.g. how much oil gets into my house (I don't have one, but for the sake of example, I have one)
* utilized or utilizable energy - what ends up as heat in my rooms.

Really what we want is an energy service, a cold beer or a hot shower. Electricity can deliver those services much more efficiently than for example burning gas. If we generate electricity from renewables then it’s even more efficient.

How does clean energy cut inefficiencies or lower energy demand? Besides, much of the industry is going to need more electricity if anything, if we stop using coal etc.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing on the fact that we can't move away from coal, oil etc. but rather on how things would be more energy efficient if we do so, when in fact we need to produce much more electricity to make up for the removal of those from the energy mix of today.

Things like the steel industry is going to need an insane amount of electricity to move away from coal for example, but I guess we could save a lot by shutting down a lot of useless server farms that seem to serve very little real world purpose.

Energy is more than just electricity. Although we will use more electricity, systems like heat pumps, electric cars, induction cooktops, furnaces, etc waste much less heat than their gas counterparts.

Agreed and if we're taking pure energy usage, yes, many electrical appliances/machines use less energy, but going from a gas hob or boiler to an induction hob or heat pump means more electricity needs to be produced in lieu of the gas which isn't always possible, unfortunately.

Combustion engines are about 20% efficient - electric motors 90%. Thermal power plants dump 50-70% of the energy they get from fuel as waste heat. Boilers are about 85% efficient - heat pumps 350%

Except you have losses when you transfer electricity, especially if it's over a certain distance, which means there are still losses, unless you produce your own electricity, which is not something most people can do today. How do you expect nations that don't produce enough electricity as it is...

...today to magically swap over from gas for heating and cooking over night? It's going to take at least a decade to do this, without even considering the electricity production, as there aren't enough heat pumps or induction hobs for entire nations to swap over.
