A cost paid to the gov to be able to vote is a poll tax. It’s not a matter of "adulting" or any other such thing. The 24th Amendment outlined that poll taxes were illegal. We are not supposed to pay to access basic rights. Historically, burdens like this were used to disenfranchise voters. ID
