The advances in technology that go into Lr now are insane. As a working pro, nothing else has come close. All my clients show up trying to use other tools and then leave convinced otherwise. Every company will move to a subscription plan soon enough; it’s about cash flow.

I used to care about ISO (Increasingly Sucky Optics), but that feature has saved so many of my images I am not so fussy!

And mind you, this was not some sort of exceptionally dark situation. Bird was in the shade, and I was using my lens at f/5.6. IMO shutter speed > ISO noise

Absolutely. I can recover from noise, or even ignore it. There's no recovery from a blurry picture.

This is literally my philosophy as well. Once we embrace the fact that high ISO shots are awfully good (and fixable), you'll find you'll get much better results!

I do need to do some more experimentation on LrC's Denoise, but to date I haven't been happy with the results. I do find it reduces noise, but it also softens the subject excessively. For the moment, I find Topaz's Denoise AI work very well for me. Hence why I haven't played much with the LrC one.

Truly incredible how far post tools have come in the last 10 years ... and they are getting better all the time!
I remember a time when I couldn't get about ISO 1000 without severe grain problems ... and now I routinely shoot at ISO 6400 and above with VERY usable results!

I still have my D2x! (Although I've switched mainly to my z6 and z50.)
I still love the color rendering in the D2x though in good light. But it's no comparison to the new bodies...
