Perhaps this is the next step beyond late-stage capitalism. Now that a few huge companies control everything, they are looting the government and trashing the economy to drive small businesses and farmers and the stock market into bankruptcy. Then they can buy up everything at fire-sale prices.

This was the real danger of the SCOTUS Citizens United’s case calling corporations people. Corporations ARE NOT people. Corporations don’t die. They can afford to ride out a 10-yr depression, and even benefit w/o losing the most productive years of their lives.

He’s in a bubble. He’s insecure so he needs to feel powerful and use his emergency executive powers. He thinks the tarriffs can replace income tax. No one around him tells him the truth. He does not make the connection that he’s harming the American economy- he simply hates Wall Street.

He wants to destroy it so he can rebuild it as his kingdom. Problem is, he’s very very bad at building things. So even if he gets what he wants, we’re going to end up with nothing but a huge mess.
