Yeah I've had a similar experience. First FWA was in 2007 and the change has been so drastic in how difficult it is just to get around.

This is why I think as I 'get back into' cons, I'm sticking to the tiny local ones. Every time I ended up at a huge one like AC, I spent entirely too much time dealing with 'ordeals' instead of having fun.

Cons are best at under 1000 for attendance imo!

AC isn't that bad despite the size. I love going to that one. It still has the same vibe. Having a dedicated convention space to spread out definitely helps. FWA on the other hand is just a labyrinth.

We haven't even tried to get through registration yet, it hasn't been worth it yet.

There was still some fun to be had suiting last night even though it was a mess.

Hopefully it'll slow down a bit to make it better.

The main escalators being out sure doesn't help. But I'm getting the sense the city itself wasn't prepared for the crowds as well this time. However I'm not there, so that's just a guess.
