I don’t know what Dems can do, Teri. I have volunteered for many Dem campaigns in KY, over more than a decade. It’s such a cult of personality for Repubs. Dems can campaign on issues that should be important to voters, but Rs here wont listen b/c they have lapped all of the national talking points. - ThreadSky

KY Dems don’t focus on issues involving trans people, which bathroom, or even national immigration, and yet, those are the things that Repubs refuse to shake and say Dems are “imposing.” They used to hate Nancy Pelosi, now its AOC. Democrats here only ever talk about protecting Medicaid and Medicare

Dems, including Andy Beshear, stress getting new employers for good jobs, protecting public schools - nearly every county’s largest employer - but nothing breaks through. Dems *do* campaign in rural areas but R voters aren’t interested in what they have to say. I honestly don’t know what Dems can do

Keep working until it works. Republicans were in exactly this same boat for decades while rural folks voted consistently for Dems for state leg, fiscal court, etc, while giving Republican presidents 60%+ of the vote. Then, one day, they didn't.

No we are not, but the national Democratic Party will eventually come back around for people. It's important to look forward to how things will be instead of backwards to how things were.

The real work of progress is getting rural folks to vote for *liberals*, which, even when they were voting consistently for Democrats, was not what they were doing. The longer protect of a progressive Kentucky benefited from a less conservative Democratic Party, even if it doesn't feel like it now.
