One of the things that stands out is the contrast between this week's story of the edits about Harriet Tubman on the NPS's Underground Railroad website and the fact that she is included in Trump's Garden of Heroes. Trump clearly wants to promote a sanitized and self-serving narrative of Tubman.

The garden is the perfect metaphor for how Trump understands history. Like the statues, history is nothing more than a narrative that has long been set in stone. Narratives are timeless and intended to be passed down from one generation to the next for the purpose of reinforcing the nation state.
