My hope would be that once DJT is out much of the intense radicalism will tamper down and republicans would have enough ethics in their DNA to stop this from happening again. Wishful thinking, perhaps but without hope you’ve got nothing.
I agree. Unfortunately I think it's going to take more than *Rump departing, in whatever way, to deprogram the cult members (assuming they want to be deprogrammed) and repair the damage to the country. THAT might be impossible with damage this severe.
It doesn't require a Constitutional Convention. It only requires amendment, along the lines of the 25th Amendment, clarifying some of the things left ambiguous by the Constitution.
Potato, tomato. It still requires 3/4 of the states to approve it and it’s very unlikely. Much like with the Electoral College- it’s not about population votes.
Felons who have not done their time. I know a lot of good people with felonies who did their time, were young and dumb, etc. and they can't find a place to live, much less run for president. And they are sorry, and they've grown, and they deserve a chance. This is why equity matters.
This is such a bad idea. Did you fail to notice what just happened in New Jersey? If you want to disqualify an opponent, have them arrested and convicted on phony charges. It is far from implausible.
When in the last fifty years was the judiciary running kangaroo courts? Can you cite specific cases? And I don't mean errors, I mean intentional malpractice.
OPINION:
There should be a Constitutional Amendment that individuals with a proven track record of criminality [as in not just one or even two offences 10, 20, 30, or 40YA] are simply not eligible for elected office or positions appointed by an elected office.

Hypocrites!!
Don't get me wrong. I'm all for it. I'm also for requiring candidates for presidency to have military experience.
We need to start by enforcing the laws we have: The Constitution.
But there a lot more things that need to be fixed, like grifts, bribery, insider trading...and lobbyists.
We been Americans to not be ignorant racists.
It is Not a big ask to require this.
And yet here we are.
There should be a Constitutional Amendment that individuals with a proven track record of criminality [as in not just one or even two offences 10, 20, 30, or 40YA] are simply not eligible for elected office or positions appointed by an elected office.
Also, actual eligibility requirements.
