What do we think of PG’s early endorsement as best player in the draft? I don’t think much of it- for all I know he was just trying to make a spicy statement for his podcast. But I do think that players have a in that we don’t. Both in understanding and word of mouth intel.
This isn’t optimistic per se but one thing that is illuminating from All the Smoke Podcast is when they bring up players who they were in owe of who never made it close to the league.
Success is very circumstantial. And looking at a players one year at college can either be useful or misleading statistic. I am clearly just rambling but it’s how I stay optimistic no matter the course.
for sure. Jaylen Brown and Anthony Edwards were inefficient scorers on bad/mediocre college teams. my big thing with Ace is I've seen no underlying statistical indicator that pops or suggests he could be elite. Brown and Edwards had those
i am skeptical of player evaluations in general. not a knock on the players, but i doubt they're doing much beyond watching a few highlights and talking to a few buddies. maybe i'm wrong.
I would say they are probably great talent evaluators but probably not great at evaluating who will be successful. But yeah I can’t imagine that active players have much time to research HS players even if they wanted to.

but i still struggle to see him taking a guy who rates *this* poorly on the models.
right now, i think any Bailey-Sixers stuff is leverage for trades
