At first I was put off by the fairly high price of the @play.date but the hardware is clearly amazingly high quality, with a lot of attention put into the design of every component. I will have fun developing games for this I think!

First impressions very positive. It's nothing like those crappy portable consoles made using NES blobs. Really solid build quality, the onboard software also has appealing design. It reminds me a bit of old Apple: everything from the box it comes in to the software seems to be carefully designed
i don't have time to put into "serious" gaming these days, so playdate is more worth it to me (compared to, say, a switch 2) cos I mostly play shorter, simpler games in brief downtimes. my switch 1 mostly collects dust.
