So... there are mice (and every other creature) that exhibit opposite-sex behaviors and/or same-sex sexual preference, but in the absence of speech, it's hard to ask the female mouse that's humping the other girls and beating up the boys if it self-identifies as butch dyke or a transgender man.

...and I think that's important, because gender isn't a set of behaviors. You can be as macho/butch as you want to be and still identify as a woman, man, or enby.
