Searched in Finnish and found a piece: 1941 magazine Kotiseutu "Old methods of preserving milk and water" from Finna archives. In some sources it's been sourmilk (piimä). But there's clear evidence that eg. wells were thought to be clean if there was a frog in them. https://www.finna.fi/Record/arto.014251774

I think 1968 or 1969. Thankfully, regular testing of cattle for diseases such as TB & brucellosis have greatly reduced these diseases. It's probably why ppl think raw milk is safe now. #onehealth

Glad your brother received treatment and survived. Hopefully, this testing continues. I live in America's Dairyland and can't imagine farmers not supporting testing and risking an outbreak.

The cuts to USDA, CDC & FDA are definitely problematic for farmers (& the public!). We'll likely see an uptick in food borne illness in the future bc testing, surveillance, & outbreak management won't be happening. I hope farmers take a stand.

We used to get milk in glass bottles, more environmental friendly since they are reused. Once we found a grocery bag inside! 😲
I worked on a dairy farm in HS. We used to save milk (unpasteurized, I know) for us to drink on the farm. One would have to stir in the fat that floats to the top.

Yes, a plastic grocery bag. Someone must have stuffed it in the empty jug before returning it. I guess nobody noticed it in the glass milk jug after it had been washed and refilled. So many things are automated now-a-days.
