Yeah, my partner, her kids, and her visiting dad all seemed to have a blast playing it on the switch 2 last night. So I guess mission accomplished for Nintendo there.

The Welcome Tour coverage has been equal parts sad and hilarious. I've seen so many Serious Gamer Mans play it on video, out of some sense of obligation, complaining that they don't want anything to do with it, and that it should have been free, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FREEEEEEEE!

the idea that customers aren't price sensitive with 450$ price tag vs 300$ is insane given Nintendo's own financial reports which state that parents buying multiple switches for each of their kids is a massive reason for their sales which will be much less likely with a 450$ price point

Does the Switch 2 even need a break out title? There are hundreds of excellent games the Switch 1 didn't have the horsepower to run but Switch 2 does that are getting ported. It may not seem like much to people with gaming PCs or other consoles but that's a huge catalogue.

In the grand scheme of things the fact that it started development for Switch before moving to Switch 2 arguably makes it more comparable to something like Breath of the Wild's dual release than it does to something like Wii Sports.

Unlike that game it isn't actually available for the older system, but it still has the feel of something that's utilizing the power of the new system moreso than any of the actual new gameplay gimmicks possible with it.

That said, the fact that it's less of a leap arguably makes onboarding easier in some ways (for example, you can use Switch 1 controllers for multiplayer so don't have to buy multiple new controllers to play together), and it still is a great showcase for multiplayer features like gamechat.
