It's corny but I think they did the pro sports cliche and "trusted their process" by going back to the core of what AEW was early on: a WWE alternative that's about intense in ring wrestling along with compelling characters rather than formulaic angles.

I'm probably in the minority but I do wish they would bring back the rankings. Though it was intrinsically tied to dark so I'm sure it wouldn't work as it was done before, at least.

I'd like a simplified rankings. Singles and teams. The highest few can challenge for titles, with their contendership giving them first, second, etc refusal of a match.

Reset each Worlds End, and allow the shortcut stipulation matches (Face Of The Revolution for example) to bypass contendership.

If we add to that champions having to either defend a minimum amount per month or allow an eliminator (against someone not seeded) with a title match on the line, then a lot of things like the open challenges and eliminators make more sense too.
