Home - Calculate - Catalog - Distribution (9) - Inverse Normal (7)
Syntax: InvNormCD(tail,p,mu,sigma)
tail, mu and sigma are optional
tail is -1 for left and 1 for right
So InvNormCD(0.05) = -1.644
Or you can type InvNormCD(-1,0.05,0,1) = -1.644

Thanks very much for this - on mine it seems to be catalog - distribution (B) - inv normal (2) rather than 9 and 7, but now that I’ve found it that is pretty quick!

You're quite right, on the physical calculator it is B and 2. I was using the emulator. I need to check what country it is set to.

Ah - my IT literate colleague said that the French version has been out for ages, but the packaging for mine made a big thing of ‘uk spec’ so maybe they’re different. Anyway, would have struggled to find it, so thanks!

Default on the emulator is International, but it was easy to set it to United Kingdom, and now B 2 is restored

You can also do a normal Normal Distribution calculation then edit the probability and it will reverse engineer it for you.

I was hoping the CG50 replacement would put back the nCr button on the calculator face. It's so annoying that you have to go to a menu to find it.

I tell students to keep using their old calculator unless they specifically need a graphical calculator only feature! Dual-wielding is the only way.

In general I'm a fan of a menu-driven approach. I didn't need to look up where the nCr button was just now - it was on the first guess of the menu where I expected it to be.

When you're doing a timed exam which includes lots of calculations, I don't think you should have to go into any menus to do said calculations. I encourage the dual-wielding approach because it annoyed so many of my students in my early years of teaching!

Whenever I'm using the fx-991CW, I play a game of "Is it in Catalog or Tools?" with myself.
I'd estimate I'm wrong about 70% of the time 😅
