They did this once (for The Eternals). Perhaps that film’s overall poor reception may have soured them on doing it again… even though I doubt it had anything to do with that reception.

They would have to do their own spin on it but I agree with the concept. Maybe use comic book writing like editors used to do on the first page of comics to catch the readers up. Or have writing while the scene is unfolding.

Honestly, no. These scrolls are one of the reasons I never hooked on to Star Wars. It's lazy exposition and gives me nothing useful that I'll remember for the rest of the movie.

Plus I was always too busy just focusing on the music anyway

This could actually be a fun idea for the home video release. A little asterisk shows up on screen for a second or two, you hit enter on your remote, and a little comic book style note from the editor appears on screen.

I guess I would be the target audience for this but it really doesn't matter either way. Husband likes these films, not me. To me, it's "bad guys vs good guys plus super powers and fights". I enjoy them (mostly) for 2 hours then forget them. I don't really need opening crawls.
