People are afraid to argue or even have conversations here for fear of “acting like they’re on twitter” or being perceived as such.

I’m guilty of it/accusing people of it myself. I think the site just needs to find its footing.

I felt the same way until I created specific lists. I use the site mainly find news etc. I created a list of people I used to follow on twitter. Prior to that I was just seeing post after post of “ I hate DJT” etc.

It's still much better than X. I want to engage with real people here but I rather have 'boring' than argue with Elmo's bots & domestic or foreign fake paid accounts, whether it's politics or religion. I love bluesky's filters; it does a great job of removing MAGA bots.

I find it refreshing and mostly void of hate and misinformation.

I don’t know what your interests are, but there are so many categories of art, photography, nature and authors. You’re right about the blue. Those are the dominant posts (mine are) but I love the art, authors, music, and national parks etc. the folks are nice too.

I left Twitter because it was a very loud right wing echo chamber. When I joined bluesky, at the very beginning, bluesky asked me what interests I wanted promoted, which is photography. Largely it stayed on the course within my feeds.

I have tried adding various feeds like astronomy, math, science, and cats and following some of the people in those feeds and it seems to help, tho than I get in a place that I never see the people I am familiar with. This app is an interesting place for sure

One thing that buggin' me: as I get more followers, and as my posting rate stays high, I'm now getting more porn 'bots' and weed 'bots' following me. I just hate the DM's from total strangers trying to engage me on that level.
