PSDs should also reduce suicides and suicide attempts. They do look an operator into a particular layout of the location of train doors. Now electric trains have a life of up to 40 years but they do eventually need to be replaced...
On line 1 we spent years installing ATC. The trains already stop at specific locations - we have stickers on the ground showing where the doors will land. So no change there.
Lock an operator. Gah. In London the Jubilee line trains are coming up to 30 years of age. It'll be interesting to see what TfL's strategy is on replacing these. In about 10 years...
That’s a good question. I’ve always assumed they just go directly from the station platforms. Ours are wide open like the New York ones. It’s easy to just hop down.

I could be wrong, of course. Any story I’ve seen about it was just people going on the track directly from the platform. Staff has access to get in through other ways but lately it sounds like it’s people who are in crisis and I don’t think they’re planning much.

Persons on track should logically be factored into the business case.
These delays get lots of publicity and further push people away from using the TTC - lovingly known as Take The Car during its failures.
Yeah they’d need any future trains to have the same door layout.
