Do they know what the Library of Congress is? Have they ever been there? It's not your branch library in NW. The Children's Books Collection, like the other most important parts of the place, is for scholars, not kids (cool stuff for kids in the gift shop, but the Librarian doesn't run that).

The Library of Congress is a repository of everything that is published and copyrighted in the United States. If it is published, a copy automatically is supposed to go to LOC for its publishing archive to be complete for all historians to be able to do appropriate research.
