This is me with A Dance of Fire and Ice, I like trying custom levels but most of the time you need 5 hands, inhuman reaction speeds, and hopes and dreams to finish the level.

tbh its why i like to focus on lower levels when i get motivation or when it's something that'd help get people into the game (i.e. the Bug Fables/Indigo Park music having lower levels), but it's definitely a feedback loop of wanting to get people in the community to play, but they ignore low levels

So thus from lack of interest, people don't do low levels. Also, when making middle levels it can be hard to make a good one that feels super imbalanced, or low levels to not feel simple and boring. I wish it were different but rhythm game customs are a niche of a niche sometimes.

And another thing is people like charting what they like playing, or stuff that's interesting. For me, I think while low levels should be up to the players to get good at via official stuff, there's cool things you do do with charting at that intermediate level! For example:

But then with high level stuff, you know the people who can play this level can keep up, so that's where you can do the really crazy shit. The motivation to make cool top level stuff beats out full spread customs a ton and it's an unfortunate shame!

For me this isn't just a rhythm game thing but a fan community thing. You'd probably see advanced+ celeste maps for standalone maps, you typically see tough pokemon hacks like run n bun or even stuff like blaze black/volt white, lowest is usually lite kaizo for SMW, this is sadly not only RGs
