If your tree is artificial, put it up undecorated about 2 weeks early in the room the cats like best. Mine were fascinated for two days with it and then got bored and have ignored it ever since. They also ignore the decorated live tree. Other than to sleep under it.
I do have the base of my tree in an old tool chest. It was my grandpa's from the 1920s. Maybe that keeps them out. I have a 2yr old and 1 yr old and they should be in the tree but aren't.
Kitty Control Unit.....spray bottle. Every time they climb up you spray em. But that doesn't always work. My cat is a little too chonky to get "into" the tree itself so she's resigned to the bottom. She still attempts, I still spray. It's a vicious cycle. Lol
That's just a cat doing what cats do... why fight it?!... just do what I did and buy some plastic ornaments... my old cat used to sleep in the tree and never turned it over or knocked anything off... it was wild!! ♥

She is like a child.
I had one that ate the lights, crunched on them like I ate a bowl of cereal.
Had another one that had tinsel hanging out of its butt all the time.
They are goofy and we have to love them.
