Sanctions on Russia: a bipartisan bill adds tariffs on nations buying Russian oil, gas, uranium, per Sen. Lindsey Graham. Senate will pass it overwhelmingly if Russia doesn’t seek a fair, just, lasting peace.

Why the "if russia doesn't seek a fair, just, lasting peace"?
russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and doubled down on it in 2022.Their destructive intentions are clear. Just go ahead and sanction the hell out of them!
This is the constitutional mechanism for use of tariffs in the United States. The next congress will likely severely limit presidential authority to impose tariffs.
They won't get it past Trump's veto. But the next President will definitely sign the law. One good thing about Trump's lawlessness is the power of the President will be strictly defined. No more Andrew Jackson's or Donald Trump's!
The size of the Democrat majority in the Senate and the House next term is only a question of how big. I believe some Republicans in the next Congress will grow tired of answering for Trump's garbage.
It always sounds good but I do not trust this 3 faced asshole Ms Lindsey come outta the goddamn closet already you fucking fake tWump ass kisser Graham
Better than nothing.
Hopefully just the start of a turn around in American perceptual grounding.
Not enough.

Trump, is destroying America’s relationship with its allies while encouraging and empowering Putin. Both are working to replace our Constitutional Republic with a Fascist, Christian-Nationalist, White-Supremacist Kleptocracy. Is Trump a willing Traitor or is he submitting to Putin’s Compromat?
Both the Senate & House have bipartisan identical bills with relatively high cosponsorship, but they are sitting in committees & haven't yet been even debated there
Senate and House aren't as compromised as the Trump White House, but Trump would still need to sign the bill. Even if they had the votes I don't know that the Republicans, fully in thrall to Trump, would try to override the veto.
The Senate is the least compromised out of all of those three. The White House is directly Trump appointed, while the House has to constantly be borlerline sycophants about Trump, because they have re-election every 2 years. The senate has every 4 years, so there's no need for bullshit pandering.
Oh, sorry. But this just makes my point better - the bigger the distance between election and reelection, the less there is need to participate in the culture war just to get reelected.
Huge #Tariffs on oil to start would bring an end quickly to this tragic war
that #warcriminal #Putin has no intention of ending. He has brilliantly played #Trump and made him look like a clown to the rest of the world. On the political world stage, the US is looking very weak and unsure of itself.
#Trump needs to get these sanctions done as quickly as possible. Why has he still not moved on these sanctions yet? However, I think we all know the answer to this question already.Time to punish #Putin with painful economic sanctions to bring Putin to the table quickly to end this war with Ukraine.
This is not a bad idea. Anything with "tariff" in it Trump will like, and a trade war with nations supporting Russia is fine by me. Not the best approach, but I would pay this tariff without complaint.
He held up the last funding bill for Ukraine, demanding that an accounting of where all the money has gone because Fox News said oligarchs were pocketing it all. He also jumped on the bandwagon shaming Zelensky for his infamous White House appearance. He is nothing more than a self-serving tool.
Graham is a terrible senator. He's been a Trump sycophant and an empty suit. About time he figures out the serious mess we are in because of Capt. Chaos and his project 2025 enablers.
The only just peace will be one where the orcs go home. A lasting peace will be one where they are utterly defeated and broken, and all of them know it. I think Ukraine should start actively targeting highways, railroads, bridges inside russia.
USA really fucked up with that WH incident with Zelensky, the world was shocked and learnt that USA is a country one can not look upon as a decent country anymore. Then you have Vance in Munich forum.
Those incidents cost you millions of jobs and trillions in future contracts.
Yeah right; 1 call from Assholini, and that bill will never reach the floor and even if it passes the Senate, the House will kill it, and Assholini would veto it anyway.
If there is smth I didn't expect it's Lindsey Graham introducing new sanctions against Russia, which is good news (and I never expect good news from Lindsey Graham). A good morning
They literally are supporting the Putin's lapdog Trump. How does that "helps" Ukraine? They are buying time for Putin and are making sure Russia don't lose. There's really not much more to it.
Those tariffs they are planning are quite heavy. Not trying to defend Putin and Trump at all, but if the Senate is going to score this one, it's big change in Trump's policy with Russia.
If Lindsay Graham is a sponsor it won't go anywhere without Trump's blessing. And we know Trump wants to please Putin. So, sorry to say it but I don't have high hopes for this one.

There are no real Replicans at the moment and there will NOT BE until the day Trump get smashed in the midterms and loses control of the super PACs.
Tue, Apr 7, 2026 – Tue, Nov 3, 2026 is when Trump loses power

Trump will say "don't do that".
Graham will cower and say "I'm sorry, daddy!".
And that will be that.

Ucrain will do the rest!
(Russia and Ukraine have not held direct talks on the fighting since the start of Moscow's offensive in 2022.) 😉

Here's to Trump not blocking it
(I hope for it - but, at this point, I need certainty :-( )
The price for breaking the rules.

Fuck that if. We all know what that means, nothing will happen and ruzzia will go along with their plan.
What a worthless bipartisan bill.
If they REALLY wanted to stop ruzzia, they would approve that bill TODAY!
Putin & Krasnov already planned to shit on Zalenski & rape Ukraine
Russia doesn't want peace, otherwise Putin wouldn't have invaded Ukraine. Russia is laughing at the Republicans and Trump. Too easy.
