They ought to do it like judges do:

Do you swear or affirm to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth (so help you God?) The latter is kept off many times. (I remotely type federal immigration hearings is how I know.)

Not if you cross your fingers. Crossing fingers protects against all lies and perjury in the eyes of the law. For presidents it's enough to just think about crossing their fingers.

You don't have to swear on a bible, though if you don't believe in the Constitution, using a system created by it in order to hold office seems somewhat counter-intuitive and hypocritical.

I'm an atheist. I have the same obligation as a christian to tell the truth just because I say I will while holding my hand on a bible, which is none at all. The bible itself is full of obvious lies and atrocities. Why would it mean anything to anyone?

You do not have to swear on a bible. Oath require you to swear or affirm that you will …. You don’t have to swear to Zeus, Ra or any other being.
