Even this isn’t ambitious enough. Utah becomes a self-governing protectorate foreign affairs managed by New Canada but no federal voting rights. Virginia joins; maybe North Carolina. Ohio and Indiana are taken as necessary transportation corridors but no voting rights until they become civilized
I think registered Republican voters in blue states ought to be removed from the voter rolls too. Plenty of preexisting red states for them to pack their bags and MOVE to.
Possibly one of the sanest! Imagine: universal healthcare, better education (the international PISA scores have Canada well above the US for math, science & literacy), gun regulation, social safety net, etc. But we need to embrace some of Canada's characteristics or we'll just pollute Canada.
I'm sure President Putin will be keen to re-adopt Alaska back into Mother Russia; afterall 'Alaska' is a Russian word, belonged to Russia, and has large natural resources ... and there's no "big beautiful ocean"* between it and Russia.
