The shoplifting panic did loads to lead the Chesa Boudin (San Francisco DA) recall campaign to success. I expect the same dynamic played out in other local elections across the country as libs joined their conservative counterparts in capitulating to “tough on crime” ideology
It's interesting for him because he wanted to be reelected, but the manufactured tough-on-crime campaigning doesn't work nearly as well the second time around. Luckily it's the least of his problems now!
