I often hear right wingers argue against skilled migration saying we shouldn't be "stealing" nurses from developing countries. This sudden feigned empathy with poor countries is exactly as it sounds: completely absurd.

These aren’t opposing facts. Kerala is developed because it sends migrants, not in spite of it.
Is this latter possibility the case?
Is that true of all the countries from which we import skills?
I’d be entirely happy if this were/is the situation.
I am absolutely not averse to immigration and there can be no doubt that we have a need for the skills they provide.
