I see
"Oof. Um, sure you don't want to talk about death? Or drugs? Or unyielding nihilism? Or how we live in an inherently unfair universe? Or where babies come from?"
Oh wait π
"They looked like a boy when they were born but they really feel like a girl inside" ( or vice-versa) is not that complicated to explain and not something a child with no taught bigotry would question
This erasure isn't doing anyone any favors.
Like the dangers of sniffing glue?
I'm gonna go with cowardice.
This is an attempt to delegitimize a way of being. Crossing your fucking fingers and hoping trans kids will disappear
But when you think about it, Disney is about make-believe, why would they have the audacity to tell realistic stories?
After the Obergefell ruling there was a "honeymoon" period then an outpouring of resistance imo
Dawsons Creek had the first real homosexual kiss in the 2000s
Buffy the Vampire Slayer had the first gay relationship for more than an episode
The 1st same sex kiss happened on a daytime soap
Trans people existing is pretty easy to explain to kids, too, I would choose it any day over shit like "is the doggy going to get better?" or "how does gravity work?"

In the 90s
They had all those shows like Donahue (before Springer)
And they'd have transgender people sometimes.
My first thought was, "People can do that? That's fucking awesome! Good for them!"
And that was it.
I never thought it was weird until my Mom said it was.
it's honestly really fucking saddening.
A relatable character in a cute Disney cartoon.
If I can use Disney to talk to my kids about parental death, found family, colonialism, Chinese history, gaslighting in abusive relationships, then gender identity is EASY.
