Also, proof that it’s not serious - the World Figure Skating Championships were held at Boston Garden, which has the same no bags rule. The ISU knew people are there all day and international visitors wouldn’t put up with it, so the rule wasn’t enforced.

I’m used to security at premier league football games in the UK but it isn’t that bad, no ICE equivalent there ever, and when my son and husband went to Euros they were warned they may have to prove they were the ticket holder, but that was never checked, there are issues with scalpers

There are things like banning orders where someone like Tommy Robinson has been banned from going to games, so there are legit reasons they do it, but it isn’t a situation where police or immigration are involved in checking
