As a testament to the dire situation in the U.S., our university (Uni. Iceland) just sent an email on the risk of data (used or gathered by European institutions) stored in the United States being deleted, altered, or access to it restricted. #academia #waronscience #disinformation

Time to start downloading everything to hard copy for preservation. All human knowledge to-date must be printed & protected in a secret vault that Trumpy can never find. All kidding aside. Technology can no longer be trusted. Hackers have taken control. Do what you must.

I have been extremely worried about the corrupt gaining access to the repositories, I hope there are some that are safe, so when all this corruption is combated, we will be able to reconstruct some information that is lost.

If you're using a cloud service from a U.S. company, your data could be accessed by U.S. authorities with a proper warrant, even if that data is stored overseas.

Since the DOJ are now in Drumpf's pocket, I would be looking at getting off any U.S. Cloud service providers ASAP.

Yeah, I'm looking into it. I've put my stuff on OSF's Frankfurt server for a while, but since COS is the one operating it I'm not sure that's sufficient protection. Also, the OSF site is at this moment giving me 500 errors, which is also another reason to look at Zenodo.

Difficult to navigate, though. How does this "community" thing work? And do you have a better workflow for uploading than the default interface because yeeesh.

Also doesn't seem to have a way of doing registrations as far as I can tell.

We use the github archive workflow. Projects are on github until published, then archived and doi'd by zenodo. Some examples at https://zenodo.org/communities/themusiclab/records along with OA materials for other projects
