It's just a Twitter with a left ◀️ spin. There's no way out of the news bubbles🎈. There's no middle. Flashes could be an insta replacement to sever from Meta but nobody's on flashes, so my answer is social media fatigue.
I dumped my IG accounts earlier this week and even in just a few days without them, I am already noticing how much time I am NOT wasting mindlessly scrolling. I’m not on here a lot bc it’s still quiet in the old house community, so I’m enjoying not being online as much.
I go to IG to be sedated. I go to bsky to see what the buddies I’ve never met are up to. Most of the time they’re just upset. I think it’s just the times. I’m quiet but still here and not leaving.
I came here from instagram and I really want to like bluesky but I just can’t. Honestly, I hate it. It has nothing to do with bluesky as a platform, I like the how and why of its build, I just can’t stand the way information is packaged.
There’s even a character limit on replies! I hate the idea that one must be so succinct, that every bit of information conveyed must be a little grabby soundbite, not too long or people’s tv conditioned minds will gloss over and tune out.
I want to show some pictures, but even more than that, I want to write more than a sentence or two about some arcane or nerdy little detail that I really care about. I’m not shooting for the lowest common denominator or to grab attention, I want to write for the folks who might be interested.
I love Bluesky, but I'm not addicted like Meta, so I'm on it less. The only thing I miss are the people still on Meta instead of here. Twitter was my preferred platform, though, until Musk bought it
Agreed. I do wish Bluesky was more visual. That’s what initially drew me to Instagram when it first came out. I love taking pictures and sharing them and seeing what other people see.
I have the flashes app, but right now it’s just a Instagram-like grid of all the images you’ve shared already on Bluesky. They are the same content but just a different format. I wish flashes behaved more like the gram in how you could create and share media.
