H-D are not looking to appeal to Harley owners. Current Harley owners are quite literally dying out. They are trying to appeal to new markets/demographics.

No kidding. I could actually get interested in a light(er)weight HD tracker (three different times I *almost* bought a pushrod Buell, but...dealer). But then, Indian just discontinued its tracker-ish FTR.
I rode that Ascot all over the mid-South and Southeast, from southern Illinois to south Gulf Coast, FL. Never a hiccup except occasionally in soaking rain.
Have to agree. But they are in a very difficult market position. They built an amazingly strong brand identity which resonated with a very specific demographic. That demographic is now old and decrepit. But if they change, they risk losing their existing customer base before they die off.

Trackers are gulag'd to the custom shops.

What H-D should do is market it as a Scrambler, but offer a tracker kit
