BREAKING: An American Airlines plane collided with a military helicopter over the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. this evening. Mass casualty event declared.

After watching the video, I would rephrase: it appears that the American Airlines plane did not fly into the helicopter. Instead, a military helicopter flew into or collided with an American Airlines plane.
How did the helicopter not see the plane? I could see if it were the other way around with the pile of the helicopter easily. They were heading directly for an airplane.
As per CNN, it was a training flight for the Blackhawk in that case they’ll probably be using NVG’s and your visibility is extremely limited while using those goggles. your depth of perception goes out the window and I’ll be honest. I don’t know if their flight radar would’ve picked up an airplane.
From what I’ve heard that is correct it doesn’t have an air to air radar system so it probably didn’t pick up anything. Remember that helicopters fly at a low altitude at a slower speed in an aircraft therefore, the majority of flight I believe don’t quote me on this is done by visual
