I would guess he would have been so inclined anyway. But I do wonder how far along the interview process he was when he sabotaged UM’s DEI initiatives.
Five of the eight Regents (i.e., a majority) wrote in opposition to what Ono did. Something weird happened, and we need good investigative reporting. And we need it now.
UFL approached Ono in October and upped their offer to 3M+ in January. When the regents' op-ed appeared, Ono was negotiating contract fine-print. No wonder they couldn't sway him.
