I think the problem is that we think of rich people being higher. We need to think of them more as low basin where money collects. It doesn't trickle out, it just collects more money. Taxes are a pump to get the money higher up the mountain where there is less water collected. It doesn't flow up.

Long ago I was told that cutting taxes on the "rich" creates jobs because it creates capital and businesses then hire more people. Problem is that the vast majority of "rich" are not business owners who would hire anyone. They are simply people who work for another business and hire no one.

But in this analogy, if the government is a two-income-earner household, then a tax cut is the equivalent of one of the two earners quitting their job.
