Svalbard is TECHNICALLY Norway, but isn't attached to it, and is so close to the North Pole that it experiences polar night (you don't see the sun for months), so keep that in mind. π

Apparently the cost of leaving is really high, it's actually hard to get there and you can't stay there forever and apply for citizenship, you have to keep going out to renew a valid passport to go back π
And you do need visas etc to pass through Norway in the wat there
π―. I think it might have something to do with "An asshole who no one likes, and who ends up on their own, tends to freeze to death on their own." So, you tend to get good natured, community driven people living where the winters are long. π€ͺ

I grew up in the north, but itβs not very far north compared to svalbard
The permafrost is meltingβ¦there was even a flood there a few years ago
