I read it, but again, you want your best player in his best role. The rest can get shoehorned. You don't put Jude in a holding midfield role to make room for Grealish or Maddison or even Foden. They're not "elite" at the same level as Jude.

Out of possession, he does his work, tracking back and pressing, but he should be the least handcuffed of the 3, so when you get possession back, he's key to the attacking phase

Like I said, I think I'm in agreement w the author, he's part of a 3 w Rice and (for now) Wharton, where Jude has the 'free-er' role. Wharton is for sure a holder and recycler, and Rice has the destroyer/box2box mentality and ability. So Jude can be the presser/attacker of the trio.

And really, that's a BETTER, more complete trio than Lampard, Gerrard and Carrick.

Lamps and Gerrard were too similar, where Rice has REAL holding/destroyer attributes/mentality to compliment/cover for Judes attacking focus.

Wharton has that Carrick/recycler role, but may not be at that level yet
