He doesn’t have enough experience nor qualifications for national vice chair. He needs to start in local party politics. He said good riddance to the Alaska representative getting voted out because she wasn’t tough enough on gun regulations. He’d be terrible.
@davidhogg.bsky.social school shooting survivor.A strong voice in his community & bringing awareness to DC.He worked to spread the word & get out the vote for Harris. We need his PASSION, intelligence & drive.Energy!Ability to attract more youth.
Marge chased him in DC to harass him.Triggers magats
He could have tried to figure it out, he could not, but the rest of us could. If I’m smarter than him that’s a hard no. The youth vote is skewing right bc of GROOMING. HE CAN STAND UP TO IT.
Why do I have to vote for him bc he’s young? I’d vote for him if he was smart, a worker who wanted to effect positive change. They screwed us by screwing Joe and now they want to take over this party? Oh hell no. I have to question how many of these fauxbros voted for VPOTUS. I say they did not.
He did not fail. The folks who failed are the ones who stayed home, the MAGAs who still voted for Trump. There is only so much Harris and team could do and I include David Hogg and all the other youth activists part of her team.
We always working for Harris that's not what it's about. He's Young he wants to be DNC chair but his first test was pushing back against the radical far left and influencing young voters to vote for Harris
Totally he did, and the Harris campaign made a lot of mistakes, not doing interviews with a lot of black on media not allocating money to Black voters matters that was on the ground registering voters not addressing the lies from the far left and many more.
Do the research and you'll find money in politics has equipped the old guard with the ability to make money while in Congress like insider trading. They're not willing to concede to any ideas for the good of the country only the increase of their bank accounts. One bird two wings.
He's genuine and the mass shooting he experienced at high school will forever be etched in his psyche. I see the good he wants to do and the "shut up and sit down somewhere" politicians are suggesting he do. This shitstem is truly corrupt. What are you doing for the cause may I ask ?
Makes far more sense than, say, Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense, Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence, Kash Patel for Director of the FBI, Matt Gaetz for Attorney General, and RFK, Jr., for HHS.
When I hear "he's not old/experienced enough," I feel like young democrats are treated like Independents. We get no support, despite being on the SAME TEAM. This man is running as a DEMOCRAT. SAME PRINCIPLES.
Honestly this is great but David Hogg should form a new party and let the DNC die. I'm so sick of hearing 'young leadership' from them and seeing IN REALITY WHO THEY ELECT keeps backing old bags like Pelosi and Schumer. Kick those geriatrics out first, then we'll talk.
❤️ this as an exercise in “hey let’s do our OWN shaking up of our system that IS NOT WORKING” Is this kid the answer, no not YET. Could he BE at some point? Hell yeah! Has he made mistakes, sure…he’s also a KID! Get him in a high role to actually learn, then let him learn! he’s at least got balls!
"Dems got their asses handed to them so let's try inexperienced young amateurs which Republicans will devour in order to throw a bone to young people who don't regularly vote" is not a winning strategy
I know. but do you think the old guard will let any new blood up? I don't. I hope I am wrong, but I have no respect left for the senior leadership of the democratic party. They helped to hand us trump TWICE. poor executive decision making and no real ability to read the room of working class voters
Jeez, David Hogg isn’t even in the position yet. Could we just stop eating our own? This 🐂💩 has got to stop, get it together. This is the same 💩 that put that treasonous d***he bag back in office. “ I can’t vote for Kamala! I don’t like the way she won the nomination, so I’m voting 3rd party!”
He has not accomplished much.
Gun reform *is* happening through @momsdemand.bsky.social - I suggest you look at their successes.
Hogg has been an unreliable ally.
Unfortunately, I have to agree. We desperately need younger forward-thinking people to lead the party, but he should be vice-chair for now. After Harris's loss it'll take a while for folks to want to think outside the old-white-men box.
There are 3 vice chair positions, if Hogg is chosen for one, let’s rally around Malcolm Kenyatta from PA so he can be selected for another. He won his state race and is in a great position to attract younger voters. #DNCViceChair
Anytime the DNC can infuse youth into their hierarchy I am all for it, we need to get younger and more media savvy.
David has been a long term vocal advocate which makes him even more viable..
Coach Tim gets it. Because this is what good coaches do: encourage and foster talent vs. forcibly trying to control and hold onto power for themselves.
Honestly as a woman I’m tired of not seeing proper representation overall and honestly all I’m seeing is the same from both dnc positions that are open. A Lack of clear and concise messaging and plans
As AOC pointed out, the party and its structure (713 geriatric superdelegates) lack the will to change. The Dems attitude is, it’s us or the republicans so deal with it. Time to burn it down, it’s out lived it’s usefulness.
I don't want to hear the bullshit they pulled with @aoc.bsky.social either. It’s time for the geriatric leadership to step aside for people better equipped to fight this battle with today's rules, not the norm of the 70s. Bring it @davidhogg.bsky.social
For the love of deity of choice, nothing was 'pulled' or rigged against Ocasio Cortez. She ran and didn't win.
Trump gained with Hispanics, young men and Brooklyn. Her 'Green New Deal' fizzled, she backed a loser in a Democratic primary. She supports DSA priorities.
Aoc is slowly moving to center. 81+ votes isn't bad at all. 6 years back she would have gotten 10 or so votes for leadership. 81 is an improvement. Still long way to go but he is on the right path
It will help if she stops using the 'rigging' explanation when she doesn't win. A lot of New York Democrats don't like Ocasio Cortez and she should work on that. She can improve, but the way her fan base pretends she should be handed key posts is a turn off.
Yes if she doesn't change she will be booted out just like her fellow new yorker & fellow squad member Jamaal Bowman got booted out. Or her another fellow squad member in MO cori bush also lost . She got the message, she needs tone it down which she is improving but long way to go
I'm all for young folks having positions of influence within the DNC, but I think Hogg specifically has run his PAC pretty poorly, and been publicly criticized by other March For Our Lives members over his wasteful spending. I think other young pundits would make a better fit.
I am so happy to see Gov Walz support David Hogg. He is young, he is very smart, and he is motivated. Sorry old guard. Time for new blood. FYI. I am 74 yo.
Let’s get it done! Put in charge those who won’t bend a knee or kiss the ring so to speak. Electing David Hogg as Vice chair will be a smart move forward for the Democratic Party.
It’s a no for me! The Dems are about to do what they do AGAIN! If there aren’t any Black people in leadership, they will lose my support and I’m a lifelong Dem. We’re tired of white people always leading us while barely making advancements for our community! Hogg is like Fetterman to me🤷🏾♀️
92% of Black Women and 88% of Black Men voted for Democrats. trump’s entire core base is less than 40%. Also, the white population is shrinking. This is exactly why they’re going to mess it up if they choose him. They want white people to keep control just like the GOP🤷🏾♀️It’s so obvious and stupid!
This is great news. Hogg is someone who is still young enough to have a chance to commit to progressive values and policies that work around the world instead of being a CU corporate whore.
Worked and lived in DC for 18 years and ran two nationwide public policy campaigns. Had to monitor Congress and know it works to do my job. Experience is a benefit, not detriment.
I hear you. Experience is not a bad thing. Being in the opposition, for example, requires experienced representatives to counter majority committee chairpersons before and during key hearings. Their experience with the legislative process & rules is an advantage over inexperienced young members.
This is awesome. I was hoping we could just start over with a new party but if we can primary out the ones who vote against AOC’s anti-corruption bill that’s close to a new party.
Sorry but no. This dude always seemed a little grifty and spoiled rich-kid-y. Just like the other survivor who latched on to the pro-gun lobby to try and get into Harvard. And we’re gonna need the guns anyway if Trump or the religious right have the equivalent of the blackshirts (1/2)
Do you really want to put strict gun laws front and center now with Trump in charge? He ain’t gonna come for the white folks guns. He’ll use it to cement his legacy as the one who stopped the mass shootings but we’ll have another war on black/brown ppl like the war on drugs was.
This issue is a loser for Democrats and always has been. Many times it’s the deciding factor for Dems already facing thin margins in a state. There is no way to frame it w/o going full Beto and promising voters he will confiscate their guns and bury them under the prison. 👎
It's obviously a loser. Lyin' Ted won 57% against a dude with a chest. Texas is under threat of becoming a full blown theocracy. Our forced birth laws are sociopathic. Our governor is Opus Dei and our LtGov is the dad from Footloose. We do not need this shit right now. We are the 2nd biggest state.
PS, California is the biggest and they have the goddamn right-wingers trashing them and victim blaming instead of actually being value-add re the wildfires. Know your fellow American. We do not need this shit right now. Try Pete Buttigieg as Vice Chair instead. Or Stacey Abrams.
I'm curious to hear more about the actual practices of David Hogg that concern you. From my perspective, he's been a really effective youth organizer and stayed involved since his experience as a high school student. I just don't get anything grifty about that.
I've been impressed with some of that but honestly my only favorite thing about him is how effective he is at pissing off Margarine Traitor Greene. I didn't trust him or the other guy from the get-go. They seemed like the high school bully type. Not the old school beat you up for lunch money (1/2)
type (Christ I miss those), the spread networks of gossip/cyberbully type from the aughts and 2010s. I don't trust Brysons. I didn't trust Beto either. All politics adjacent people, myself included, have power hungry tendencies we need to control. This dude will make it all about him at some point.
I am so happy to see this. DH has such potential and good on him for even wanting to try. Anyone who survives a mass shooting sure would be justified in trying to live a calm and peaceful life but here he is ready to work and FIX SHIT.
Had the pleasure of meeting David at the TX Democrats Convention in El Paso this past June. He’s an impressive young man and has created infrastructure in his followers. We’ve failed to engage young voters. IMO he would be an asset as DNC VP.
This high school shooting survivor has become a grown man before our very eyes! He is a clean-cut, honorably-intentioned person who wants a say in his future but has taken undeserved cruel shots from Right-wing Reality Deniers like MTG who instead worship violent Right-wing shooters & murderers.
I really love Tim Walz... He is my governor.
And I really like David Hogg and the work he's doing. My concern is that this is a job that needs serious expertise that I'm not sure David Hogg has yet. He is destined for great things... I am just not sure he's ready for this moment.
He's running for 1 of 5 vice chair positions, no? Have not been impressed by him, with his constant whining about Dems, but he can't do too much harm as 1 of 5. Much better choices among the youngest members, though, than Hogg.
david does 'whine' about paltry progress on gun control, but i'm grateful he does! he's good at it, & he's to be more than forgiven! he survived the stoneham-douglas shooting, after all, tho friends did not. started march for our lives! principled & articulate, & works hard! we need his young voice!
I'm older but I think having 80 year olds deciding the future is a mistake. I like it when I see young people getting involved. I'm sure others do too!
my point: it's prejudicial and insulting to assume because someone is an older politician, they want to 'burn America to the down.' in plain fact, the inability of some of elder politicians to effect change is due to actions by greedy younger folk.
You can say it’s prejudice and insulting, but it’s my opinion. I’ve been around long enough to see what’s happening and many of the people making decisions right now are older and they are burning America to the ground. Maybe that’s hyperbole but then look at California…
And Matt Gaetz is a young guy running around raping girls. And there's Tim Pool and Nick Fuentes and BoBo and Joe Rogan and MTG and Kash and Viv and Elon and I can go on and on....
David Hogg will get things done. He's been involved now for years. He wants good things and can help make them happen. New blood. Fighting blood. Old is too quiet.
The secret 400 plus delegates who select the DNC chair. Perennial loser Donna Brazile being one and surprise surprise Nancy Pelosi's daughter. With many others including many lobbyists. Democracy my hairy ass!
I agree, have been following this young man since the Parkland shootings and March for Our Lives. Move over elders and let the people who've intimately lived with the consequences of Democrat inaction & incompetence their entire lives.
I love David Hogg, and there is a place for him in the party, but Dan Wikler has a formula that worked for Wisconsin and command more cooperation within the party.
#BenWikler all the way. That's generational change too. That's vetted, had a track record of great success, and is already organized. Great that there are so many good candidates. Ben is the best one.
Agree. I don't think anyone who went full on NRA Bernie to the point the parkland activists distanced themselves from him, who has no experience in the real world and especially in political campaigns, who will alienate the base, is the right choice.
Fortunately he is one of a few vice chairs. Maybe he will learn something. I don't absolutely despise him; he isn't always wrong, but I don't like anyone who trashes older Dems who have worked for us, for people, their entire lives.
Comments
Vice Chair? Oh, well, that’s different. Nevermind.
(Spoken in the unforgettable Gilda Radner’s Emily Litella voice)
Marge chased him in DC to harass him.Triggers magats
She lost
That was his job last cycle.
😆
When I hear "he's not old/experienced enough," I feel like young democrats are treated like Independents. We get no support, despite being on the SAME TEAM. This man is running as a DEMOCRAT. SAME PRINCIPLES.
You wonder why they don't vote? Cmon.
I'm not surprised to see Tim return the favor.
They can point out his qualifications other than not being old
When it starts off with get rid of the old g*
I just turn off
If they complain that Biden/Harris was too conservative, too corporate, to pro Israel
Etc
If they couldn’t be bothered to vote for Harris
Or didn’t vote at all
Or did everything in their power to weaken the democrats
They own this election
Who complain they weren’t wooed enough to be bothered to vote
This post makes it look like Hogg is running for Chair, couldn't bother attending the YouTube session, & that Tim Kaine is still endorsing him.
And before you say "couldn't do worse" I'll point out that 100% of national elections were won when the NC was chaired by someone with experience.
political capital. You win elections to burn the capital to improve lives."
TIM WALZ
Walz knows a good bet…
David has been through an experience most of us will never understand.
With his drive gun control will happen
Gun reform *is* happening through @momsdemand.bsky.social - I suggest you look at their successes.
Hogg has been an unreliable ally.
David has been a long term vocal advocate which makes him even more viable..
David Hogg is such an inspiration.
Maybe we can finally get the common sense centrist party we need as people flee the authoritarian left.
Y'all want power but will not show up to vote for Dems. candidates like V.P. Harris.
It’s so easy to talk about ‘geezers’ in power
But not about people coming out to vote
Trump gained with Hispanics, young men and Brooklyn. Her 'Green New Deal' fizzled, she backed a loser in a Democratic primary. She supports DSA priorities.
She's not that popular.
There is a path for her, but it doesn't involve claiming 'rigging' like a whiny, Trumpian loser.
Maybe she could talk to Abigail Spanberger about running outside Brooklyn.
There's plenty of opportunities for her to work to build the Party and win a ranking position, this is not a time for tantrums.
Tracy Flick would never!
People on this site have gone off the rails. FFS, live in the real world, get out of this bubble.
Hogg seems like a bad choice to me, but he's also a shiny new thing.
https://youtu.be/JymyPHfhGic?si=c9U5wvyoXPCyBr9U
Am an old geezer who showed up and helped register other voters. Old geezers get the job done.
And I really like David Hogg and the work he's doing. My concern is that this is a job that needs serious expertise that I'm not sure David Hogg has yet. He is destined for great things... I am just not sure he's ready for this moment.
Thank you Tim!
Oh I know... make it all about himself, like he did when pushed his peers aside who had also dealt with a tragedy.
FFS 🙄
i'll wheel myself out now....
☹️

and conversely?
You can't judge a book by its cover. Whatever.
American politics have been ruined by Big Money. the downfall was indeed started by people who are now old or dead.
but our enemy are greedy evil selfish people.
they come in all ages.
✌️💙
They are just as capable of nihilism. Youth isn't a protection against ignorance.
The organization that has done all that and more is Moms Demand Action led by Shannon Watts. I'd like to see her in the DNC.
👏💙👏💙👏💙
it's not the age, really. it's the personal commitment to not go on a Cash Grab (like they ALL do).
we need fighters for real change from outside the system. who'll commit not to be eaten by it.
✌️💙
Social media followers ain't enough.
The progressive party in America needs young leadership.
The New "Freedom Riders" for America's future
You were born to serve
Grateful….
David brought him up as a VP possibility, so I began to look up more info about Gov Walz.
