The mileage I have gotten out of this is so vast that I forced my coworkers to watch it in the office. Let’s just say I forgot about the fuck machine until mid way through the movie.
I know the sentiment gets thrown around a lot about a lot of very popular movies, but I actually think Burn After Reading is an underappreciated movie.
For us older people Max just reminds us of Cinemax. So it was a pretty dumb move from the get go. Although sometimes HBO does feel a bit like the old “Skin-emax“. So maybe that’s what they were going for.
I was genuinely confused why they would want to per se look less associated with "HBO", which to me at least carries a fair bit of weight in entertainment.
I believe the original HBO Go app was named that because the HBO app was exclusively for showing the current schedule of every HBO channel. Then they changed to HBO Max for unclear marketing reasons, but the distinction used to make sense
