'Viewpoint diversity' – is sarcoidosis actually bad? Should trans people be allowed treatment for chest infections? Is ivermectin the cure for lung cancer? Why shouldn't Joe Rogan perform lung transplants on children? So glad RFK Jr is in charge to ensure these important views get airtime.
Is the fascist Trump regime idiocy superficially motivated by transphobic bigotry? Possibly, which is repugnant and despicable; regardless, it carries massive implications for everybody irrespective of identity. Protecting trans rights is ground zero for opposing fascism today. Don't give an inch.
I've learned that at least two other journals have also received these letters but are keeping it private, presumably because they fear becoming a Trump target. This is incredibly naive, short-sighted logic. Failure to organize and directly oppose fascism doesn't work out well. Buck up academics.
Looks like it is both undermining a professional medical journal and the 1st Amendment ...However, it's ok for RFK,Jr. to spout long debunked theories as if this is the current state of knowledge and to employ dubious scientists ...

Medical leadership AMA, AAMC, ABMS, and on and on knew about this, but despite the vilification of practicing doctors for the past 5 years they chose self-preservation. It won’t last.
Vinay Prasad published this on his Sensible Medicine blog one day before Ed Martin sent out these letters to medical journals. Within discourse networks as they exist today, there are many ways to directly and indirectly enable fascism. Vinay appears to relish the attention doing so brings him.

The fact they are using their office to promote the insidious practice of false equivalence, of "viewpoint diversity," is ridiculous on its face.
Diversity is nice, but not at the expense of scientific objectivity and facts
