If it seems customer at a counter is oblivious to ppl in line behind them, what’s good, polite strategy to get ‘em moving?
I’ll start: If directly behind them, I step slightly to their left or right so I’m within their peripheral vision. Many times that’s enough.

2 That tends to trigger a reaction of irritated impatience in me. I was trying to hide it, but apparently not entirely successfully. One of the party offered to pay for my drink - I accepted it as graciously as I could … I’m not sure what the morale of that little #Toronto anecdote is.
It's a lovely cafe in the back (I recall playing Chess on their tables as a teen even!) but the lineup area in front is tricky and you can feel all crammed in easily if theres a bunch of indecisive people in front of you.
Exactly. The congestion at the front was exacerbated by the fact there was only one person behind the counter, although they were working very efficiently.
